This week-end I made Granny Square #20 . No more blocks, now to the sashing dilemma
As I don't have room for a design wall I use my bed or my floor as a substitute. today when I laid the blocks to decide the setting a huge doubt came to me... Should I go for the usual white sashing that most everybody has used or should I try something different, a dark sashing perhaps. What do you think my dear quilty friends? Please give me some advice.

I think a darker sashing will make it sing.
I'd go for the darker sashing also. Maybe choose a color in the blocks that you especially like.
certainly would 'sing'!
Your blocks look so beautiful, it is going to be a lovely quilt. I will leave it to more experienced quilters to offer advice!
Your blocks are so cheerful and happy! I would have to audtion a lot of fabrics before I could choose!

This is always the part I find hardest.... to be honest I don't think it matters - either dark or light will look great...just a different effect.....

I agree with LaDonna, I would audition several fabrics under the blocks just to get a look at how it will look, even take a picture , that helps a lot I find. There is a lot of deep pink so perhaps that might work . I would go darker too :-) The blocks are lovely .
Yep, I'd have to audition a few fabrics. I think white sashing will give it an 'airier' feel, and a dark sashing sill give it a more grounded feel. Sorry I can't be of more help.
The blocks look fantastic... See what a polka dot fabric looks like...
I can't offer any advice as I'm too new to be giving any! But I think your blogs are gorgeous! Out of all the granny squares I've seen around the web, yours are among my favorites. The colors are just lovely!
Yes definitely audition some colours... a solid for me... and not necessarily dark just coloured...and take a pic... it helps a lot I find. Good luck... I know you'll choose beautifully! :)
The idea of taking a picture with the blocks laying on a darker fabric is a great one! In this picture the floor is serving as a sort of sashing and the blocks look great with that brown/tan color. You could also use darker sashing with white cornerstones...it would give it a whole new look. :) blessings, marlene
audition audition fabrics take photos of it and then choose! i love white so fresh but dark would be awesome too oh decisions! xx
I can also picture it well with a dark sashing, there seem to bee a lot of pink/berry tones in the quilt, maybe something like that?
Lovely Granny Squares! I went with no sashing. http://purple66p.blogspot.com/2012/05/two-finishes.html
