My new table runner

I think I finally finished my new table runner, I used Kim Diehl's Country Whig Rose pattern but did only three blocks
All the blocks were made using needle turn appliqué, the little circles are a bit distorted but I'm only a beginner on this technique.

I had to make some alterations on the border, the appliqué from the original pattern wouldn't fit .

This is how it looks. It now needs to be quilted and bound but i think it will look very nice on my dining room table.
Today I'm linking with A Quilting Reader's Garden for another Appliqué Thurday.

                                                             Hugs,

Two finishes in one day

Last year i made a table topper using a free pattern from Robyn at Daisy Quilts - February Hearts. It has been tucked away in my cupboard since but today I decided  to get is finished in time for this year's Valentine's Day.

It can be used as a table topper or wall hanging. I love this pattern. Thank you Robyn!

I also finished my sewing machine cover. It needed binding, and now its done!

At last....I had the courage

This last summer my friend Celia, who lives in Australia, came to Portugal to visit her mother and some of the family that lives here.
We managed to get together for only a couple of hours and we exchanged some gifts ( she brought me lots of wonderful things).
One of those gifts was a flying geese ruler, The Eleanor Burns quilt in a Day ruler.

To be honest, the ruler has been kept in a drawer since then because the first time I read the instructions I felt so confused that I thought I would never be able to make flying geese using it.
Last  week-end I thought to myself...Are you going to be defeated by a ruler? NO WAY, I opened the drawer, got the ruler out, read the instructions again and cut some squares. White squares for the background and some charm packs squares from "Make life" by sweetwater for Moda fabrics.

Oh my! that was quick. In a whisker I had made 16 flying geese and as my sewing machine needed a cover I chose some grey fabric and started to make one.

It's almost ready, just needs some binding. Thank you Celia for a wonderful ruler!

Friday Night With Friends

The second FNWF of 2013.
It's so nice to be sewing with my friends from all over the world.
Last night I joined my 12 blocks from my first year of QBSA.
I squared them and made my first friendship quilt. I have another set of 12 blocks from the second year.
This is how it turned out
