All the way from Melbourne

Today I received a package from Australia. It came from my friend Celia. We have been exchanging Fw blocks and today I got the most wonderful 12 blocks

The blocks look awesome!!!
Celia has used some wonderful fabrics. I bet she has a big stash of civil war reproductions. My quilt will certainly benefit from it. I'm thrilled.

These are some goodies she also sent me. I love the little string bag. Just adorable. The buttons are fantastic and the quilt labels, too. Thank you so much Celia.

I've won!!!

Last week I entered one of Jolly Jabber's giveaways.

As you know Jolly Jabber is the Fat Quarter Shop blog. You had to guess the name of a line of fabric following some clues. I guessed right and... I won!!! YEAH! I'm so happy. Look at the wonderful fat quarter bundle I'm going to receive.

It's the wonderful Classroom Alice Putnam. Thank you Codi, and thank you Fat Quarter Shop!

WIP Wednesday

I can't believe a week has passed. It sure seems like yesterday that I made a WIP post.
This week I've decided to show you my Farmer Wife blocks. I've made more or less 60 which means I still have many to do. Nevertheless here it goes

Last week I began some civil war blocks. They are small but wonderful to make, I'm only beggining

Last but not least my DWR quilt is going slowly but steadily. I've got four rings and a couple of arches ready

Don't forget to link up with the lovely Lee at Freshly Pieced and share your WIP with all of us.

FNSI - DWR and some new blocks

Last night I made more arches for my DWR quilt and sewed  another ring. I have four now

Here they are

I said in older posts that I wouldn't begin any other project until I finished this quilt. Well I should have kept my mouth shut.
I couldn't resist a glimpse on this wonderful book  " Civil War Legacies  by Carol Hopkins ". I don't have the book but I saw some of the projects in it and couldn't help myself. I love civil war blocks and fabric so... Here is what I did the rest of the night ( and A bit today, too).

WIP Wednesday- More DWRing

Since I've started my Double Wedding Ring quilt, I've tried not to start any other projects that would keep me off track. For that reason I don't have much to show you

I have sewed together three rings and I have a couple of arches ready to go. I'm going to make more this week-end.

Besides my DWR I've only made my swap blocks and some gifts, this is one of them...
I still have to quilt and bound it.
To see more projects just visit the lovely Lee at Freshly Pieced.

White or dark Sashing????

This week-end I made  Granny Square #20 . No more blocks, now to the sashing dilemma

As I don't have room for a design wall I use my bed or my floor as a substitute. today when I laid the blocks to decide the setting a huge doubt came to me... Should I go for the usual white sashing that most everybody has used or should I try something different, a dark sashing perhaps. What do you think my dear quilty friends? Please give me some advice.

One Flower Wednesdays

After a quite lone break from sewing hexies I'm back in business.

Today i'm liking up with the lovely Karen at a Journey of a Quilter and share my newest hexies.  I  really missed my hand sewing so this week I've made three flowers, I still have to make the stitchery in the centers but you won't mind me posting them even like that.

Pay it Foward from Cheryll

In the end of last year I entered my first Pay it forward. I have three recipients and I'm going to receive handmade goodies from other three quilters until the end of 2012. When? It's a surprise!
One of the surprises just happened this week. Last Wednesday the mail man bright me a fat envelope from Australia. It was from my dear friend Cheryll. It was my first Pay it Forward gift!!!

She also sent me a sweet little card
My hand made gift was a wonderful 12" block keeper. I love it!!!

Look at the perfect blanket stitch around the letters, mine always seem crooked
I don't know if she guessed or if she read in one of my old post but Yellow is my favorite color, I absolutely adore the inside and my QBSA blocks are already being kept in there. I really needed one of these but I could never make one as beautiful as this.
THANK YOU SO MUCH CHERYLL!!!
