My FNSI

Last night I made some more arches for my Double Wedding Ring quilt but I had to go a little further...

I'm mostly a self taught quilter, I've learnt a lot from the net, the blogs I visit and the books I buy and I didn't want to cut all my wonderful fabric into pieces to find out later that the Double Wedding Ring was a task I could not handle. I know this isn't the way most quilters work but I had to try making a whole ring. And so I did, I cut the melons , the centre and sewed everything very carefully, following the instructions throughly. Here it is, my first ring!

It doesn't seem much but it took me all night to get this done.

Your ring came out fantastic! It lays really flat. I think you got a lot done in an evening - it's a difficult block with a lot of pieces. NICE JOB!

Great block and fabrics. I too try out one or two blocks when I start a new project. Sometimes it is from excitement. I just want to see how one block will look before I get going into chain piecing mode.

That is a lot of work for one evening - there are lots of little pieces in your ring, which looks perfect.
Gorgeous colours you have chosen for this project.
Enjoy your new rings.

Looks wonderful Teresa! Are you hand piecing it? I have a double wedding ring quilt started in my closet. I am using fusible interfacing to do mine. Can't wait to see your next block!

Your ring turned out great! It looks really nice with Good Fortune.
When it looks like a complicated block, I like to do a test block first, too. So much better than wasting tons of fabric.
