Dear, I shrunk the blocks!!!

As you probably know I joined FWQA a couple of weeks ago.
I bought the book and immediately started making the blocks using the templates from the CD. It was boring and rather expensive as each template came in a separate sheet of paper. After visiting some blogs I found a link generously shared by LizQuilts on Flickr. All the templates are condensed in only 15 pages and of course i printed them at once.
The next day I cut some templates and made block #14- "Butterfly at the crossroads". Everything went smoothly but then...I realized that this block was bigger than all the others. OH MY GOD!!! WHAT HAPPENED???

I searched on the Flickr group and quickly discovered that I printed the templates from the CD at the wrong scale. My blocks were 1/2" shorter. Now what?
Well I have to start from scratch. And the small blocks?
When life gives you lemons....you make lemonade. I turned 16 blocks into a table runner for my new cupboard. I love it!

After all I didn't waste any fabric ( I had a lot of fun doing the blocks, anyway) and I got a new table runner. Now, back to work to see if i can catch up on FWQA.

Aunt Sarah's Quilt and One Flower Wednesday

Since Sunny from Quilting Dreams showed the photos of this quilt it didn't come out of my mind. So I decided to search on the Net and ordered the magazine. The quilt is amazing, now I have to make little adjustments for my hexies are 1" and the ones from the magazine are 3/4". But will pull it through.
Here are my last week flowers, I began doing the cream ones.

First Year blogiversary and a Giveaway

Today I'm celebrating 1 year of blogging and I still can't believe it.

It seems like was only yesterday that I was asking for my daughter's help to start this blog.
It has been an incredible journey. I never thought I would enjoy it that much.
Since then i came a long way. I "met" lots of interesting people, learned a lot about quilting sewing and blogging.
I think I can even say that I've made some friends all over blogland.
I'm thankful for everyone that rakes time to read and comment.

To celebrate my first year I had to have a Giveaway. So this is what I'm giving to one of my blogging friends:

* 2 Marcus Brothers Fat Quarters
*1 pincushion
* a card or coupon wallet
* A quilt pattern from Clares place

So, What do you have to do to win???? EASY

My August FNSI

Last night was dedicated to small things. I finished the stitchery on a Christmas table topper ( or runner, I haven't decided yet). After that I made a purse and tissue holder set.

It wasn't much but I'm happy with the result. I love FNSI!!! Thank you Heidi and Bobbi for hosting this event.

One Flower Wednesday

This week was a busy one. I had to finish two flowers last night or I would have had only one to show. Thank you lovely Karen for keeping me on the line.
Sorry for the blurry photo but it was taken with my cell phone. Mu DD took my camera away when she went on vacation.

Farmer's Wife Quilt Along - week #4

This week I made four new blocks

Some of them didn't come as good as I'd like. The tiny pieces are hard to sew and the seams get too bulky, I'm loving to do them and maybe I'll repeat one or other block that doesn't satisfy me at all.

One Flower Wednesday

Here are the flowers I manage to do this week. Thank you Karen, if it wasn't for you my garden wouldn't grow so fast.

FWQA- New blocks

I recently joined Angela and Amanda in this great quilt along. I started a little later but I'm catching on.

I have made nine blocks so far and I intend to do a couple more this week end. Here they are:

I'm loving doing these blocks, they are easy to make if you follow the instructions and cut the templates correctly, which doesn't happen with other books I've bought.

One (many) Flower Wednesday

Every week  Karen at Journey of a Quilter gives us the chance to share the hexie flowers we've made. Make a little visit  at Karen's  One Flower Wednesday, take a look at the flowers and share the ones you've made with us.
Thank you Karen!!!

Last week I enjoyed a little vacations on the south of Portugal and, of course, my hexies went too. These are the flowers I made during the hot Summer nights.

Santa Sack Swap

A minha primeira encomenda chegou sem problemas e é LINDA!!! A Manuela mandou-me um saco de Natal lindíssimo, adorei os tecidos. Os presentes...Não, não os abri mas vontade não faltou.

My first package of Santa Sack Swap arrived safely. Manuela made me the most beautiful Christmas sack. I loved the fabrics. I didn't open the presents tough I wanted very much to but, I know it will be even greater to open them next December.
